MURALS

I’ve been making murals as long as I have been illustrating. Each mural is different and the process of completing it is informed by the surface, environment and constraints of the job at hand, resulting in a variety of different techniques used to get the best results. Take a look sure.

The Hoxton, George’s St/Exchequer St.
Construction hoarding put in place using imagery commissioned as part of the Hotel’s online “Survival Guide” for Dublin city. The imagery used depicts a range of icons and scenes based on the surrounding area, including the Library Bar, Ha’Penny Bridge, Molly Malone, and more.

The Bernard Shaw
Painted as part of their “Music is the Brandy of the Damned” group mural project. Imagery based on the lyrics of “I Wish” by Ski Lo.

I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
And a six-four Impala

The Lighthouse, Dun Laoghaire
Commissioned by The Lighthouse, this mural occupies the venue’s outdoor seating area and depicts a scene of the nearby 40 Foot swim spot. Approximately 12m x 7m.

Hungry Eyes, Vilnius
Mural painted using paint markers on the entrance doors of Hungry Eyes’ gallery in Užupis, Vilnius, Lithuania. I visited hungry eyes for a week in late October 2023 to complete a short residency and produce a risograph-based exhibition called “Bonfire” which depicted an Irish Halloween from the eyes of a child. The mural itself depicts dogs barking at fireworks, with apples representing party games.

Photographs by Dominyka Gurskaitė.

Additional murals here were commissioned by Meta (Dublin), Belfast City Council and UsFolk Illustration Agency (Belfast).
